What Is In Your Social Security Benefits Letter

First of all, your Social Security benefits letter is the official document that confirms youve qualified for SSDI benefits. Additionally, the letter states approval or denial of your application for disability benefits. This is important in itself because the Social Security Administration does not make phone calls, send emails, or send text messages in order to notify applicants of their application status.

In addition to confirming that youve been approved to begin receiving benefits, your award letter will also provide some other information that you will want to know, including the following:

  • Approved medical conditions.
  • Frequency of expected medical reviews.
  • The Social Security Administration determination on any expected, not expected, or possible medical improvement.
  • The date that you are eligible to receive benefits.
  • The date that you will begin receiving your benefit payments.
  • The exact amount each benefit payment will be.
  • The amount of money that you will receive in back payments.
  • The distribution date of your back payments.

Keep in mind that the date your eligibility begins will typically be a lot earlier than the date that you receive your first payment. In fact, this date is often earlier than the date that youve received your letter. You cant receive payment until five months following the official onset date of your disability.
